Two days after we got back from Concepción and Pichilemu, we packed our bags once again and got back to van. This time we have more than 2000 km road trip toward north of Chile, Atacama desert, and we will stop each night in different place to sleep and rest. My mommy is bit worried if I can do this long trip with 6 adult persons but everything will be just fine. During trip to Concepcion she realised that everything needs to be planned in detail and that we need to pay attention to time, so she is having no mercy – waking up early is a must if we wanna reach our destinations before dark.
Day first. Valpariso – La Serena – Elqui Valley
AAAnd here we go!
This is our first stop. I need to walk and to eat.
And our first beautiful cactus on our way.
As we go further there are more and more cactuses. The sea of cactuses!
Most of the time I am sleepy.
Very sleepy.
We saw different landscapes.
No big cities on our way. La Serena is one of the few.
Even as we wanted to visit beach and some nice place to eat on the beach we didn’t have time for that, so we stopped in first restaurant next to our parking.
One for you, one for me.
We eat and we need to go. Sometimes with me it is not that easy to do it in time.
One more slide before we leave.
We are getting to Elqui Valley. We know it because of these vineyards. They are making Pisco of it.
Getting to our hotel was already deep dark.
And most beautiful sky ever!
This is why we came here to sleep. For more info check Elqui Domos
Good morning Elqui valley.
I made some mess but I am gonna clean now.
And then I need to explore this place properly.
These are two telescopes that we saw last night.
And we saw some strange tends on the way to breakfast. Pavle told me that those are hotel rooms as well.
Our place for breakfast is strange as well.
After breakfast we checked pool. And we spotted small mouse in it.
Of course my friend Pavle rescued it.
We relaxed a bit before exploring valley.
Mommy told us about this village around. So we went to check.
I loved the place.
Tailored for me.
All natural, all vegetarian.
Lots of kids around.
I did some shopping too.
Even though this village is nice my parents wanna find some meat restaurant around. So we are exploring valley again.
This is really dry valley. It is on 2500 meters above sea level and there is not too much rain. And yet they produce here their national drink Pisco.
Finally house for me. And it is real one!
And up is restaurant!
We found restaurant and this is view from the terrace.
And I think that this is another telescope! Around here is plenty of them.
Family photo.
I wanna explore too.
Nice. I love sand.
Everyone liked this house.
So before we leave we need one photo.
Getting back to town.
Finding a disco that does not work.
And listening to some live music.
And finally dinner.
Back in hotel we did astro tour with telescope.
I was already sleeping in mother’s lap but they told me after that that night was unforgettable.
Bye bye Elqui Valley. We are leaving dreamy valley.
Mission for today.
Trip to north is really long one.
And road is changing from minute to minute.
All way the road Chileans have small altars and shrines for decedents.
Stopping is necessary. Trip of 6 hours like that becomes trip of 9 hours.
We are close to desert already. Even though there is still long way to Atacama desert.
Good thing is that on long trips I am allowed to eat whatever I want. Even sweets.
Leaving my little friend behind.
And finally arriving to our destination.
Bahia Inglesa beach
Beautiful sunset. That is all we gonna see here.
Time for dinner and bed. Tomorrow early morning we leave this place.
And this is why we leave early morning. This is the day which my mommy feared. More than 1000 km driving in one day… What if this, what if that?!
Longest day. And not too much to see around.
We are getting closer to desert.
Getting couple of photos on the way.
Really fast one because today we don’t have any time.
Even to take photos of nice landscapes we don’t have time. Mommy is taking photos while driving.
IPad is really helpful.
Panamericana. Family photo.
And stopping for the lunch.
These beasts were on our way. We stopped after them to eat and we need to leave before them otherwise we will be driving behind them all day.
So, we need to do really quick lunch.
In places like this there are no tourists. Just locals.
They have amazing home made soup!
But I need to explore
And mommy needs to go after me.
Hitting the road again, still long way to go.
And somewhere near Antofogasta we arrived here.
It is 11 meters tall. I am less than 75 cm
No more photos of the road. We reached Atacama desert late night and very tired. But we did it, and I did it!
